Neighbourhood Planning
What is neighbourhood planning?
Neighbourhood planning supports communities to create a plan that highlights what is important to that community and what their needs and ambitions are for the future.
Communities are involved in the neighbourhood planning process from the start. They help to map their assets, and shape the engagement process, from door to door conversations, focus groups, online consultations and feedback from local groups.
The findings of these conversations identify up to ten priority themes to be actioned over the next ten years, with some actions to be delivered in the next 12 months.
Local stakeholder groups made up of local people, partner agencies and relevant resources, oversee the delivery of these plans.
Annual Reports monitor progress and highlight the great work happening in communities.
Neighbourhood planning in South Lanarkshire began in November 2017 and has now been rolled out to nine local communities. Please use the list below to see the latest updates and information in your area.

What is Participatory Budgeting (PB)
Participatory Budgeting is recognised internationally as a way for people to have a direct say in how public money is spent.
The process will be planned using the PB charter. The charter is for everyone involved in a participatory budgeting process whether planning activities or going along to vote.
The charter is a set of seven key features showing what a fair and high quality PB process should look like.
